MAIFEST at iTAP
May 8-9, 2009
We asked ourselves “why should October have all the fun?” The answer, it
shouldn’t, so join us at iTAP May 8-9, 2009 for Maifest. This traditional
German Festival will be done with an iTAP twist. Sure, there will be
German food, music and plenty of beer. But we are going to block/fence
off our parking lot for two days, throw up a few large tents, prop up a large
stage for live acoustic music and enjoy all that spring in Missouri has to
offer (please note the parking lot will be cash only)
Schedule of Events (see below for acoustic music line-up)
Friday May 8: As always we will open at 3pm. Music in the lot will start at 4pm
and end at Midnight
Saturday May 9: Open at noon live music from 1pm-Midnight
Beers available on draught in “the lot” (40 taps inside will still have the same eclectic selection)
Bitburger Pilsner (Bitburg, Germany): Bitte Ein Bit, go ahead make it Zwei. Dry-finished, hoppy taste with a splash of honey and citrus. ABV 4.8%
Boulevard Maibock (Kansas City, MO) Boulevard Maibock is a new, limited-release seasonal brew. A welcome sign of Spring, this beer is a traditional German lager, lighter in color than other bocks ABV 5.95%
Hofbrau (Munich, Germany): True to its Bavarian roots but mild enough that this beer could conquer America if it desired. Of course Deutschland’s conquering days are long over so this beer will politely offer itself as a classic German Pilsner. ABV 5.1%
Paulaner Hefe-Weizen (Munich, Germany) A Oktoberfest staple, this tent is among the rowdiest ones which would make its trademark monk blush. You’ll taste, wheat, citrus and other spices typical to hefeweizens. Smooth to drink with a light bodies taste. ABV 5.5%
Radeberger Pilsner (Radeberg, Germany): Classically German, the award winning Pils is easy drinking light but with a bit of hops and citrus. ABV 4.8%
Rogue Dead Guy (Newport, OR): This Maibock is “alive” with a palate of pine, maltiness and a splash of hops. It has a golden caramel body but the taste is a bit tough and takes some getting used to but once you do it will be a pleasure to go dead. ABV 6.5%
Schlafly Kolsch (St. Louis, MO): A golden-colored, medium-bodied, crisp and refreshing ale. This style, which originated in Cologne, is well balanced, mild mannered, and a perfect companion for any occasion. ABV 4.8%
Sierra Nevada Pale Ale (Random, we know, but it’s a great beer and adds a bit of variety) (Chino, Ca): This Pale Ale made its mark in the shadow of the Golden Gate. Its aroma stays true to its namesake, a pinch of pine in the smell and blast of Cascade hops in its spicy flavorful taste ABV 5.6%
Warsteiner Dunkel (Warstein, Germany): Dunkel means dark mein fruend. W.D. is a very smooth dark German Lager. A deep chestnut brown hue, toasty malt and mocha aromas with a pinch of caramel. A subtle hop bitterness to finish. ABV 4.8%
Warsteiner Pils (Warstein, Germany): The “Queen” of beer this pilsner is quaint but quality. A slight pale peek, but it’s primarily a light lager in the truest German sense. This monarch sits on the thrown of Germany’s beer kingdom. ABV 4.8%
Weihenstephaner Hefeweiss (Freising, Germany) (WHY-AN-STEF-AN) A lot of vowels make this one hard to pronounce but so damned easy to drink. The brewers claim to have the oldest brewery on the planet. If so this hefe tastes marvelously fresh and new. A golden and powerful head releases a blast of coriander that laces the yeasty brew with a fabulous zest of orange. There is a good reason this brewery has been around so long. ABV 5.4%
